Reformulate this list of objectives, in light of the requirements and current practices of those cataloguing and describing manu- script and codicological materials. 2. Survey the physical features most commonly regarded as being of primary importance in the description of manuscript and codologi- cal materials from the earliest times to the onset of printing. 3. Propose standard names and definitions for such features. 4. Assess the extent to which such features may usefully be encoded for interchange of data files amongst researchers 5. Review the current proposals of TEI P1 with respect to the encod- ing of such features and make proposals for their extension or improvement. 2 ADMINISTRATIVE Work group reports to Committee for Text Representation. Work group head is Jacqueline Hamesse. Other members, which should include at least one American scholar, are to be proposed and appointed with authorisa- tion from the Steering Committee as soon as possible.
